Anyone currently doing an IVF/PGD cycle or Starting one in May?

Hey there, hope things are going well for you. I start stims tonight!!!!

Canadian Tacher - I know how you feel about being invested in other peoples babies.  I get the same way.  If I find out that they are having a by then I am find but kind of wishing that I was prego.  BUT if I find out they are having a girl,  feel like I am going crazy inside!  I don't even want to be around them when they are prego if it is a girl.  I hate the feeling too . . . but I am afraid that the only thing that can curer it is actually having a girl.  My best friend is in the same situation as I am with 3 boys so at least I have her to talk to about all of this.  Right now, we are tryig to convince her hubby to do the IVF/PGD but for the moment he is saying no more kids.  It is tough and I have found that as the years go by the feelings just get stronger . . . at least for me.  I was actually thinking abut seeing a doctor about it up until my hubby changed his mind about giving IVF/PGD a shot.  Good Luck on this coming cycle!  I know what you are going though and I hope you get your little girl!

Shoegal - Sorry I haven't been on in a few day.  It has been crazy here.  I have been to the dr a couple of times and yesterday it looked like there were 10-12 on each side that were all 14+mm.  And several that were smaller.  My doc couldnt count them all because they were all on top of one another.  I just took the HCG trigger shot tonight so my ER will be Wednessday morning.  About my meds, here is my med schedule:

cd 2:  225 Gonal-F 

cd 3:  225 Gonal-F

cd 4:  225 Gonal-F

cd 5:  225 Gonal-F

cd 6:  225 Gonal-F

cd 7:  225 Gonal-F

cd 8:  75 Gonal-F / 250 Orgalutron (Gamarelix)

cd 9:  0.5 Novarel / 250 Orgalutron

cd10:  0.5 Novarel / 250 Orgalutron

cd 11:  75 Gonal-F / 0.5 Novarel / 250 Orgalutron

cd 12:  HCG Trigger  (Trigger)       <------------Today

cd 13:           NOTHING

cd 14:   Egg Retrieval

Menopur is LH and it acts like the Novarel that I took.  All it does is helps your follies to mature.  As you can see from my schedule I took it for 3 days and it helped alot.  Now I am triggering!  Dont be worried about it.  I think that it will help your follies so you can produce better eggs!  Good Luck!  Keep me posted!

Hi SoReady I'm due for my retrieval on Friday so doc has given me 2 clomid tablets today (Tues) and one tomorrow morning and the trigger shot in the evening. So far eggs sizes r ranging from 20.5mm to 11mm. I got the report on the last PGS screening embroys all the abnormal ones where girls so I don't know what going on!! fingers Crossed Good luck with the retrieval xx

I have been reading info on this site for a while and just registered today so I could reply to your post!! I am an Aussie mum and am in California now for PGD,l also for a girl. This is our second attempt, we were here in Jan and had 2 low grade embyos transferred but unfortunately ended with a chemical pregnancy...

I am also scheduled for retrieval either Friday or Saturday, depending on the resultd of my U/S tomorrow. Keep me posted how you are going!

Hi Luckie6 & SoReady Luckie6 I live in the CA area and also do a retrieval on Friday also for a girl my fingers r crossed for u.. soReady Re your points to CandianTeacher so true I moved from my own country so I didn't have t deal with my friends having girls and believe me I knew as soon as they were pregnant that they were expecting girls. I couldn't even bring myself t by gifts I use to send my husband t get them.. My mum doesn't understand and she never will as she got a boy and girl. As the saying goes " A son is yours until he finds a wife, but a daughter is for life".. I'm lucky that my husband is understanding to this need of minexx Good Luck All I'll keep you posted..

Luckie6 kepp us posted because II  would love to heard how your experience goes.  I have my ER in the morning and I am a little nervous.  I will NOT be awake for the retreival but thats fine.  I think that I would just rather go to sleep and wake up when it is done.  I have a good feeling that I will have a lot of eggs!  I just hope that they are all great quality!

Shoegal - How are things looking for you?  Have you got a count of your follies?

Hi again! Im in for retreival Friday morning! Doc counted 18 good size follies today which is better than last time so Im pleased the change in meds seems to have helped, now just hoping for quality!! Are you having one or two transferred? Its a big decision to make and last time we had 5 mins to make it!! I have 5 boys already so could potentially have 7 children, WOW!! Hubby and I have a kind of formula we have worked out depending on embryo quality, one would be a dream come true, two seems like a lot of work!!! 

I wouldnt be too worried about ER, you wake up and its over, feels a little like period pressure for the day, I know I was still bloated afterwards though, felt three months pregnant!

Hubby is looking forward to giving me the trigger tonight, I have done all the other meds myself so Im hoping he's gentle about it, no pay back for my moods the last couple of weeks!!

Are you having 3dt or 5dt? I have 5dt so will go back in on Wednesday..Looking forward to hearing how everything goes for you all...

Hi Luckie6 I have my ER Friday morning at 10:30 we r going t have the PGS screening done which tested 24 chromosomes. I know with my first retrieval I got 4 G's so I only had one transfer each time I still have one in the freezer, but as the first three didn't taken we r not sure whether this is a good egg. I'm a little nervous with this retrieval as I got 17 eggs out last time but only 8 fertilized and all where abnormal expect one but wrong sex.. So at the moment I'm trying not t look that far ahead. I will be awake for my transfer but it's not that bad. But depending on the number of embryos with the desired sex you get should help a little with the decision making of how many t transfer if you have a few then u can start by just having one transferred. If that doesn't work then at least you've had time t decided if u transfer 2 next time, however if you do get prego with one egg and u have some more in storage then u can decide t keep them and have another go after the birth!! It's sounds like u have your hands full with 5 so I don't think an extra 2 will be that hard, just need a bigger car!!! Doing my trigger shot in an hour.

Hey Ladies,

    SO I did my ER this morning and I only got 13 eggs.  I know that 13 is still a good number but we were really expecting more being that I had so many follies.  I was kinda out of it this morning soI dont remember exactally how many follies I had but I know it was over 20.  I was noce to fall asleep and wake a second later and it being over.  I had cramps all day but they weren't bad enough to make me sit at the hotel all day.  A couple hours after it was over we were walking down by the beach. 

Luckie6 - I am doing a 5dt being that I am going with PGD.  If I were you I would transfer 2G's just to increase your chances on getting a BFP.  I know that the idea of having 7 kids sounds like alot of work but I don't think that there will be difference between having 6 kids vs. 7 kids.  And if you had twins then your little girl would have a sister to play with.  Lord knows your house is over-run by boys; could a little more girl power really hurt?  I have 2 boys of my own and all I want is 1 girl BUT if I get twins then thats fine too.  I will work it out!  For me, I have to try everything I can to get a girl (even if it means twins) because I can't do this process over and over again.  This is probably my 1 shot at getting a girl through IVF unless I have some to freeze. 

 Shoegal - How are you doing?  Are you nervous about Friday?  I couldn't sleep at all last night because I was so nervous.  I think that the big reason I was so nervous is because I didnt know what to expect would happen today or how I was going to fel afterwards.  I hate not being in control of whats going on; so right now it is just killing me that my little eggs are sitting somewhere trying to get fertilized and I wont know until the morning how many took.  We chose to do ICSI this cycle because we heard that it is suppose to increase our number of fertilized eggs.  Have you ever done ICSI?

Shoegal, I was reading on the 60 mins interview from the Oz lady with 7 boys who had a daughter through PGD in US and then went back for her frostie and is now pregnant that her frostie had abnormalities and then when tested at thaw was fine, is it that sometimes they just need a little extra time? 

I know I had an F embryo last time that had downs chromosone but I think that didnt necessarily mean that the baby would be born with downs, maybe do some more research on the abnormalities? Im not sure about all this high tec stuff, I just do what Im told!!

SoReady, I am so impressed with your egg count, I think thats a great number truly..Have you found out yet how many fertilised? How exciting for you..Keep enjoying your walks on the beach, its so relaxing..I know its so cold at home at the moment so am loving the beach in Santa Monica while I can, I can see it and hear it while I am on my computer. Am also enjoying quiet times with hubby, last time we bought the whole gang so it is completely different this time, so peaceful! (until we skype home at midnight!)

This is definately our last try so just trying to stay calm and positive and will accept the outcome no matter what it is. We are already blessed to have 5 beautiful healthy boys, a little girl would have just been the icing but I know especially after going through this IVF rollercoaster before just how lucky we already are and how fortunate that we have been to have the family we have. It breaks my heart for all the people who do this to have just one child and sometimes do not get that..

Luckie6 - I heard about that 60 minutes special and I would say that's not the norm. Normally embies with abnormalities dont turn into a healthy pregnancy. That special made this whole process look easier then what it really is. If it makes you feel better then do more research. Just don't stress yourself out! It must be nice to have alone time with your hubby. We have both kids with us so we are constantly busy. Enjoy your alone time! So here is my update: 13 eggs were retrieved 10 eggs were mature 9 eggs were fertilized Is anyone doing ICSI other then me?

Hi SoReady I think that my doc will b doing ICSI is that when they inject the sperm into the egg rather than letting nature takes in course in the dish?? Thats a good result re the fertilezed eggs fingers crossed its just a waiting game now. Xx
