The bleeding isn't as bad today and the pains have stopped. I haven't passed any clots or pregnancy tissue, definitely just bright red blood as if I was on my period. Could anything else be the cause of pain and bleeding apart from miscarriage? I'm just trying to cling onto hope that baby will be fine. Especially as I'm so close to 12 weeks. I've had no loss in symptoms, I feel awful today with the sickness so surely that's a good sign? I have no idea why A&E told me they don't do ultrasounds, I even called epau today to see if there was any way they could squeeze me in before Thursday and she said no, they are fully booked. It's horrible having to wait. I just want to know what's going on :(

When I had a miscarriage last year at 11 weeks, I bled very very lightly for about ten days before the actual miscarriage.  Then it gradually got heavier and I started to lose tissue over the next couple of days then after a few days the bleeding stopped.  I think it takes so long as the hormones have to drop to a low enough level for your body know what's happening and take action.  I have to say that I have absolutely no gender desire this time but i know it wasn't my fault that I lost my babies.

From looking at your symptoms, I think all maybe ok if the bleeding is stopping.  Lots of women have bleeds and go on to have healthy babies.  There are plenty of reasons why you might bleed, sometimes the placenta can detach slightly, a burst cyst, a vanishing twin.

Have you had a scan yet in your pregnancy?

Let us know how it goes on Thursday.

We'll be thinking of you.

I had bad, bad bleeding with 3 pregnancies. It was bad enough that the doctrs at the ER said I would probably lose the baby (it always happens when my midwife isn't available). Those three made it. Turned out all three had sub chorionic hematomas. One made it just fine. The one I lost seemed to be Ok but then suddenly died (a girl). So there are lots of reasons for bleeding, like 1/3 of early pregnancies bleed, and it turn out Ok.

on the day i turned 13 weeks, i GUSHED blood. down my legs to my feet, onto the floor. needless to say i was panicked and fully expected that i was miscarrying. we rushed to the doctor only to sit in the waiting room for two hours. i was miserable and trying to hold it together. watching all those pregnant women in that waiting room rubbing their bellies and i was sitting there trying not to sob. finally they brought me back for an ultrasound and there was my moving baby, heart beating and strong. i had a subchorionic hematoma. http://www.justmommies.com/articles/subchorionic-hematoma.shtml bedrest for a week and no sex, etc for a while...which was fine with me. he's now 4 years old and strong and beautiful. have faith! maybe this is what you are going through also. GOOD LUCK!!!!

i bled for 3 months with this pregnancy. i thought i had a miscarriage, i didn't go in but i called my doctor and she said sounds like a m/c and your body is doing what it needs to do. come back when you stop bleeding so we cane make sure hormones are back down to zero. 3 months later i went in and my numbers were still up there so she did an u/s before we scheduled the d&c... i was 11 weeks pregnant and my baby was flipping away in there.

i did have a few m/c but like pp said, it started out very light spotting and heavier and heavier. im so glad your bleeding is stopping. take it easy and i hope you can update us with good news asap. hugs

I had a hematoma with my last son at 14 wks and had very heavy bright red bleeding which eventually stopped and had smooth sailing the rest of my pg.  The fact that the bleeding is slowing down is a good sign.  Hopefully baby will be happy and fine in there when you have your US on Thursday.

Can you call your Gyno- can they get you in quicker- seems odd that everyone is making you wait!  very mean IMO.

I agree. I would be demanding an U/S from somewhere. The bleeding could be a number of things, and it's not really anything to fool around with IMO. It's not like it was just a little spotting. Bright red bleeding has a cause, and whatever it may be it should really be diagnosed.

I think it's a good sign that the bleeding has stopped. I also meant to ask in my last post if you were passing any clots - no clotting is also very good. My thought when i read that was also a hematoma.

Keep us posted, please! And hang in there. This must be emotionally excruciating for you - you are one strong lady!

I did not pass any clots or pregnancy tissue, I am 100% sure. I was that desperate yesterday I even called a different hospital to see if they could do anything but they told me I could only go to the hospital I'm booked in with. It's horrible having to wait but I'm feeling a lot more positive than I was yesterday. I just hope the bleeding or pains don't start again. I hope on Thursday I can come back with a positive update and a picture of baby. I keep praying to god to not let anything happen to my baby. My sister recently had two miscarriages, she lost a lot of blood and needed a blood transfusion. This started off my mams anxiety again, she's been suffering for seven months and has made multiple suicide attempts so we really need some good news. I will be back to update as soon as I've had my scan. Thank you for all the replies. X

I bled with my DD a couple times during the pregnancy.  Everything was fine, they said I had a "friable" also known as irritable cervix.  I swear, I walked fast and I bled!  I didn't have sex during the pregnancy because I would always start bleeding.

You could try just turning up at a different hospital. My experience is that if you phone beforehand, they often fob you off but if you just turn up there, they feel they have to deal with you. After 2 m/c's I asked my consultant for an early pregnancy scan and he said they would not do it but advised I just turn up to EPU and tell them I have had some spotting or bleeding (ie, lie) and I will get one. Often, if you present as really upset or panicked, they will deal with you. So glad the bleeding has stopped. It is far more common than you think, fingers crossed for you x

I had my scan this morning and I'm ecstatic to announce that my baby is perfectly healthy and they found no cause for the bleeding at all. I'm measuring 11 weeks and 5 days and everything looks perfect. I went in the room and prepared for the worst and actually got into my head that they were going to tell me it was a blighted ovum or something. Anyway here is my little tinker :) Thank you everyone who wished me good luck. I feel so lucky.
