What is the best PGD/IVF clinic in NYC?

Zora Astor - Thanks for the info. I actually found out about the SART website today and it is very informative. The 75% pregnancy rate seemed a little too high. I've also read years ago that a fertile couple has a 20% - 30% chance of getting pregnant with each cycle if they conceive naturally. I am sure the numbers decrease as the age increases. So 75% seems unrealistic even with IVF. There are not enough people on this site that have utilized NY clinics to give us input. Contacting clinics directly could lead to false information as they just want our business. This is so tough! But I really appreciate your input.

What about Dr Braverman? He's in NYC and his name used to come up a lot 1.5-2 years ago when I cycled. Search for user mindoc (she had twins and I think she used Dr B) and kateyk (pretty sure Dr B, too, she had triplets). I think he was a bit on the expensive side though. And wherever you go, stay away from Fertility Institutes and Steinberg! - lots of horrible reviews of him if you do a google search on this site.

XY 2009             MS/IVF/PGD2/FET XX 2011 - thanks to Dr. Potter and Lori!

Thank you so much! You have been a big help!! I will try to contact mindoc & kateyk personally. I have actually looked into Fertility Institutes but they were pretty expensive. Hopefully I find a reputable clinic...Thanks again :)

Sportsfan1: If you don't mind, pls keep us posted on what you find out from the other members here who have used this Dr Braverman, or if you find out any other info on him and his clinic!

Photo-Girl: Thanks for the thread. He sounds like a great doctor and very reasonable with his prices. I can't believe he does packages as well. I will try to contact the 2 members and if I have any trouble I will just write a new post about Dr. Braverman. Maybe we can get people's input and experiences about him and his clinic.

Anyone have any information about Center for Human Reproduction in NY? I think it was mentioned earlier but no one posted stats? I'm not ready to TTC yet but that clinic is first on my list to contact because they were the only one I found in the area whose website suggested they might be ok with doing PGD for gender in my situation.

I went to RMANY --didn't do gender selection first time just did IVF but I know they are more than willing to do GS and I will probably do it next time. I loved Dr. Grunfeld there.

CHR was actually the first one I considered and contacted when I googled gender selection clinics. Their prices were pretty reasonable. I have researched if anyone on this site has used them but no one talks about this clinic. Have you contacted them?

I need to save money, it's going to be around 2 more years probably before I can try, so I haven't actually contacted them yet since it's a while off. I know that since I'm not doing family balancing (I'm going to be a single mother with donor sperm and want a girl for my only child) my options for a clinic will be more limited so I may in the end have to accept a lower success rate vs not trying at all or traveling really far. Was just wondering if anyone had personal experience with the clinic.

I am under 35...for that age group I think it was high 50s according to sart. Since I was 29 at cycle time, doc said 66% chance of success. I was successful on first try but not sure of accuracy of 66%. As for gender selection, I would assume it is a little lower since you knock out half the embryos:) Hope that helps! As an fyi, I went to RMANY because they have the highest chance of success in NYC for my age group. A lot of people also go to NYU and Cornell and they have very high rates of success too. I heard both of those places also do gender selection now and are wonderful places, so I'd check into there also, as I am not sure the price difference among the three! Good luck!

one more question for alreadyneedivf - is the genetic testing done in an in-house lab or is it done elsewhere?
