What's the affect of being on holiday when ttc a boy using moon signs?

Hi Peony, you don't know me, but I've read all your jonas method and moon signs threads :-) so welcome back and massive congrats on your BFP. Did you manage to get pg on your lunar ovulation, or your normal one in the end? Wishing you a H & H 9 months and a little bundle of pink at the end of it :-) xx

Yay Skyla, so nice to hear from you. It feels like catching up with an old friend! You are always welcome to email me, no dramas there. I have posted my sway on the other website I am on (which I found when this one had troubles). I will also post it on here, but it may take me a little bit. We are moving house soon and I have a list a mile long. Groan. You are right, although we BD right before and at O in Jan (in a girl moon) it was a BFN. I only seemed to O in a girl moon about every 3-4 months which was a shame, and yet probably not surprising.

February was a strange month where my body did crazy things. I had not got a +OPK but then started getting very strong O pains (in a girl moon) so DH and I ended up BD that night and the next morning. I was overly emotional (not like me) and felt like the OPKs musn't have worked for some reason. Anyway, the next day I got a +OPK...not much I could do about it at that point. My strong O pains (worse than I have ever had) lasted exactly 4 days in total, strange again. By the time I thought I had actually O'd, based on temps, etc, I thought it was in a boy moon. My u/s (I have had 2, first at 6 weeks and 2nd at 10 weeks) show me dating as having O when I got the first O pains, in a girl moon. So who knows!!

I think I am better at helping others with this stuff and when it comes to me my body just confuses me! Anyway, the baby looks good so far and I am excited about it regardless of what they are. There were a lot of positives about me getting pg when I did. The main one is that I am 35 today and had ideally wanted to be pg before I hit that landmark.

I will try and get a nub shot at my 12 week scan on the 8th May. And yes, I am pretty certain I will find out the gender later on. It is tempting to wait as this is my last baby, but I think the wait will drive me crazy.

All the very best! Sending you lots of girl moon vibes!! Do you ever look like having your lunar and menstrual O's align?

Hey Mallety. Thanks so much for your message and congrats. I wish my lunar O had worked but alas, despite a few months of trying that it did not. I would have loved most of all if my lunar and menstrual O's had matched up on a girl month. But I looked at my calendar and not only did they not look like matching for any of 2012, but my lunar O started having neither gender estimated from August onwards. So I did feel I needed to get pg sooner rather than later, to even give myself a chance. So it was my menstrual O in the end, and I think it ended up being a boy moon, though it was a very tricky month to tell for sure. I was doing a girl diet as well, hoping to up my chances and cover as many bases as possible.

Auroara had her menstrual and lunar O's match in a girl month for her on Christmas Day 2011 (how cool it that!) and she got pg (it is supposed to make you extra fertile) and she just found out she is indeed having a girl!

GL with your sway! Happy to help if I can. As I said to Skyla, I seem to be better at helping others than making it work for me!

Hi peony, thanks for your offer of help, everyone is so nice on here :-) I think I am starting to get my head round everything and think I have got a plan... I really love the moon sign stuff it is so fascinating. I am going to continue temp charting and doing the opk's this cycle then from June onwards as soon as I think I might ovulate under a boy moon I'm gonna go for it!! Do you think it is ok to concentrate on mainly the moon sign at time of conception (or ovulation) as opposed to trying to wait for a lunar ovulation to line up or wait for a month that astro.com said would be a good "boy" month? I feel really excited and nervous all at the same time!! Hehe. Xx

Hi skyla, I've been reading some other threads this evening where you were advising on vitamins and supplements to take... I know this is probably not the right thread to be asking you on, but thought this way you would read my post :-) sooooooo, if you don't mind, can I pick your brain on that as well please?? I generally have a very healthy diet, I eat lots of fruit and veg and wholewheat options on everything etc, but I never take any vitamins or supplements (apart from folic acid since a month ago). I have just started to have a milled organic seed mix in one of my meals everyday, but other than that I am a bit lost on what I should be taking. I have been reading a Patrick holford (don't know if you have heard of him in oz) optimum nutrition before during and after pregnancy book, but I still don't quite know whether I should be just taking a very good multi vitamin or lots of separate ones... I am aware of the fact I am meant to be avoiding calcium and magnesium on the boy diet, but I would prefer to be super healthy than be too strict on that front. I did find a good multi vitamin but it came with a warning regarding the vitamin A and pregnancy, so it put me off it! I did look at the tresos-b you recommended to someone else, but you can't get that particular brand in the UK. Any advice would be gratefully received. I'm sorry if I seem to be all question question question and often can't repay the favour with offering anyone else advice, my areas of expertise are a million miles away from gender swaying, but I love to learn :-) xxx

I know Peony, it is totally like catching up with an old friend- I really missed seeing you on IG and am so excited you're PG!   Was the other site you were on Gender Dreaming? It sounds like you have a super busy month coming up! I don't envy you, moving house is so full on (but so awesome once you're all settled into your lovely new place).

I'm so disappointed you got a BFN in January, I was so hoping it was going to happen for you that month as everything seemed to line up so well.  It almost seems like you're whole February experience was kind of taken out of your hands, and like you weren't meant to know when you were O, so I really believe that whatever this baby is, was really and truly meant to be. I know what you mean though, it is often much easier to help others than to help yourself (and you have been truly amazing at helping other ladies on this forum, so surely the universe owes you one...!).

Anyway, even if it is a boy, there is something really cool about having 3 boys. Of course a little girl would be fabulous, but having 3 boys to raise also has so many pros. We are going to ttc this month if the moon's in a girl sign, but my husband has just flown to the US for a week, so he may miss my O date anyway. We are the same age almost! I am 35 this year too, and we want to ttc conceive before that too! How funny.

I agree about finding out the gender.  We didn't find out with either of our boys, and I loved not knowing, but I don't think I'll be able to wait to find out with this last one.

My mentstrual and lunar O's will never align. My cycle is 30-31 days, so I pretty much O on the same day each month, and my lunar O is around the same day each month, so I can't see it ever happening!

Keep me posted, will be thinking of you, xx

Hi Mallety,

Of course I don't mind, it would be my pleasure.  I've gotta say that from being on this site, it seems that the healthier you are, the more boys you have!   So you're on the right track there.  The girl diet etc is seriously so unhealthy and disgusting, it's no wonder I have all boys.  I agree with you 100% that it's incredibly important to be super healthy when beginning a pregnancy... I mean, the girl diet encourages aspartame, which is the nastiest chemical ever, and if women are dosing up on that then ttc, well, the toxicity of it is affecting their eggs, the foetus, all their organs, etc...

With both my pregnancies I took a good multi vitamin, as well as individual supplements. Vitamin A is fine as long as you don't take massive doses of it (you can take up to 10,000IU a day of it), so if it is included in a multi vit then it would be fine. Just check the amounts of each vitamin in your multi, as they often contain enough of each supplement and you won't need to double up and take heaps of individuals too.

I have never taken an individual folic acid, as I take the Tresos B, which has folic in it.  If you read all my posts on the' ttc a girl this summer' thread, you will see I said all the B vitamins are synergistic and so you can't just take on in isolation.  Read the side of your folic acid bottle and make sure all the other B vitamins are in there too.

If I was you I would definately start taking an individual zinc supplement, as this is as important ad folic acid in pregnancy and pre-conception.  You want to take 20-60mg (it's best to buy a zinc taste test from the chemist or health food store which will tell you how deficient you are and then you will know what dose to take).  I would also recommend taking Vitamin C separately too, 1-2g a day, and yes, Calcium and Magnesium are really important, you should take around 800mg of calcium and 400mg of mag a day.  I know Calcium and Mag are girl supplements, so it's your call if you take them now, or start taking them once you're Pg.  Acidophilus is also really important, but I know it can lower your Ph so once again is girly.

Hope that helps Mallety.  Please let me know if you have anymore questions.  This site isn't about tit for tat, it's about helping eah other where we can!  xx

Hey Mallety,

Re the astro.com stuff, which tells you your phase day, this refers to that actual day being boy or girl, not the whole month, so it is different to the lunar signs (which are general for everyone and change from boy to girl every 2.5 days approx)... does that make sense?  The astro.com day is personalised to you, and tells you the one day that month you are most likely to conceive a boy (or girl).  The rest of the month isn't gender-specific, so if you want to ttc a boy on a month that astro.com has said is girly, they only mean that one day per month, so if you O that day, avoid BDing!  Otherwise you can follow the lunar signs that month.

Hope that makes sense...  Peony might be able to explain it better, she is much more knowledgeable in this area than I am, xx

A lot depends on how long you are willing to wait for the 'perfect' opportunity mallety. I would have loved it if it looked like my menstrual and lunar O were going to match up at some point, but I was not willing to wait until 2013 for that possibility. Your astro calendar tells you your lunar O date, so if that looks like matching with your menstrual O in a boy month at some stage that would be great. There is also no harm in TTC with your lunar O in any boy month if they are separate, but just bear in mind your fertility may not be too high. The good thing about when they match is that you are very fertile. And secondly, you are not solely relying on trying to pinpoint O yourself using OPKs, etc.

I think the moon sign at conception is the second best option (but still a very good one) for people like me and Skyla and anyone else who knows their lunar and menstrual Os are not going to align. Then it is a matter of trying to be patient and wait until you get a good indication that you will O in a boy moon. So like you are doing, tracking your cycles to get an idea of patterns you have leading up to O, OPKs, CM, and so on. And like you said 'go for it' if it looks good that month.

At the end of the day, you have to be able to live with your sway and not have regrets. And bear in mind that just when you think you have it figured out, your body can mess with you! I don't beat myself up about my sway as I tried my best and for whatever reason this baby is meant to be there.

Skyla, yes to the other site. Yeah, Jan was supposed to be so perfect. I told the naturopath 'but we BD the day before and the day of O and I didn't get pg'. She of course told me that if all women got pg that easily then the world population would be unsustainable! I am very lucky really that I got pg the very next month as I thought my fertility may be a bit lower these days.

Feb was totally weird all round, so yes in a lot of ways I just had to leave it up to fate and know that I tried hard to have a girl. I can only hope the uiverse thinks that way! In Darwin lately it has been baby boy central, even with the hospital amazed how many baby boys are being born...so I am hoping at some point the trend will have to change to balance the numbers!

Statistically it is better to have babies before 35, for fertility and health reasons, so I think that is what I had in my head, and felt like it would improve my chances of a healthy pregnancy. My DH wants to find out this time to 'prepare', so that was a surprise to hear. He didn't want to know with the first 2. Maybe he thinks he needs to be prepared to look after me if it is a boy, but I keep telling him it will be ok either way.

Time to get back to packing boxes...ugh. 1 week until my 12 week scan.

Hi Peony & Skyla, thanks for your replies, you ladies are the best :-) Right, I have now got myself all sorted on the supplements front, and have started taking a good multivitamin and I take a separate zinc tablet and vitamin c, and also I will continue taking my folic acid as I have been salting a lot of my food and it said that that will deplete your folic acid stores, so better to have too much right? I'm not going to take magnesium and calcium etc till i'm pg, so i don't sway pink ;-) thanks for your advice skyla, it made it really simple for me, so whatever gender baby I get now, at least I will be as healthy as I can be for him or her. When I got pg with my DD I was charting my temps, it took me 2 months to conceive so I have compared those ovulations with when my lunar ovulations were meant to take place, and I was only about 2 days out... Since coming off the pill this time I thought I'd missed pin pointing my ov, but fertility friend has actually shown I ovulated a couple of days before I thought and it was 3 days before my lunar ov was predicted... So I'm not that far out. Saying that 3 days out is still 3 days out so who knows whether they will align in a future cycle or not. I don't mind waiting a little bit, but like you I don't want to wait till 2013 to find out. So I will go with the moon sign theory, and whatever will be will be :-) The way I understand the whole moon thing is that there are some people out there that aren't affected by the moon, which is how you can get exceptions to the rule, so is there any way you can know if you are one of those people or not before TTC? When I fell pregnant with DD I know I ovulated on 6 march 2010, according to lunarium the moon sign changed from Scorpio to Sagittarius at 7:35am on the morning of 6 march (although I knew none of this at the time)... We BD'd on the 4,5 and 6 march, so I feel it could have gone either way... Sooooooo, this time round when is the ideal time to ovulate (I know I can't change or control that!! Haha)? If for example I ovulate on a Saturday, do I want the moon sign to have changed to a boy sign on Friday so I'm in the middle of it, or would it still be ok to try if it changed to a boy moon on the Saturday and hope my slight sway would swing the balance? Do you think the charge / ions of your egg change slowly and therefore there is a bit of a grey area at the cross over? Happy birthday for last week Peony, I meant to wish you a happy birthday in my previous post, but got carried away!! Hehe. Hope the move goes well and is not too stressful, and I hope you can get a good nub shot at your 12 week scan :-) xx

I think you are going to do a great job mallety. It will be excellent if your O's do align. I always wished there was a way I could choose the day I O.

I am not sure of a way of knowing if you are influenced by the moon or not, other than doing what you already did...checking back at past conceptions. It is extra hard when you know you O very close to a change of moon signs though, as it can literally go either way. The fact that you had sperm up there waiting for the egg to be released on the 6th means conception is likely to have occurred soon after you O.

Ideally you would O somewhere in the middle of the boy moon phase, but yes we can't pre-arrange that! That way, it gives you time to see that you are going to O in a boy moon, have time to BD beforehand so the sperm are ready and waiting (which increases your chance of getting pg) and plenty of time for conception to occur before it changes to a girl moon.

One way to maximise your chances is to start your BD attempts only after the moon has moved into a male sign. That way, if you happen to O earlier than you were expecting to and it falls in a girl moon, the sperm won't be around. Then you still have up to 2.5 days until it will be back in a girl moon, within which time you will (hopefully) have already O.

Thanks for the b'day and moving well-wishes. I keep jumping on the computer to avoid packing! And I have to go and have my 12 week blood test today, so I am avoiding that too!

Well Peony, I do understand what your naturopath is taking about, but, damn, all the conditions were so perfect for you to conceive pink, it just would have been so magic!  BUT, yes, so lucky you conceived the next month, and clearly bubs wasn't quite ready to come in the month before.  I actually wonder about my fertility now too... I got preg first go with both my boys, but I wonder now with age and all the fiddling I've done with supplements etc, if I will be as fertile! I tested my Ph for the first time today, and it is 4.36 (just with supplements, not diet), but I know from other ladies that it tends to rise around O. I think if it is below 4 it kills the sperm?

I think you have definately demonstrated your commitment to the Universe to wanting a baby girl... I really do have all my fingers and toes crossed for you. If there is a massive boy wave going on in Darwin, then I reckon it will turn very soon, and you may very well be just the one to do it!  I think you will be.

I agree with you re the 35 thing, I know they monitor pregnancies more closely if Mums are over 35, so I have that in my head too (although I am told that that is mostly the case if it is your first baby and you're over 35).  Ha ha, that is funny re your DH, I think mine feels the same way...  I think with all the hard work you've put in you almost have to find out the gender (for me if not for you, as I will be dying to know...!  Ha ha).

Good luck with the big move and especially with the scan, xx

Hi Skyla, mallety, well I have moved and was without a computer for a while. So nice to have it back. Bub is looking healthy, though I won't get my proper nuchal results back until the 21st (they send your blood test to Adelaide from Darwin for testing, so it takes much longer). Apart from that, I am none the wiser, I had a nasty tech who refused to give me any nub shots. I ended up asking her for one as she was not even going down there on the screen and she got really blunt and said she wasn't allowed to give those sorts of pictures. I literally ended up with 3 frontal face/skull pictures, which are a bit freaky and an arm and leg picture. Gee thanks love. There is not even another place I can go up here, so unless I decide to fly south (which I don't think I will) then I just have to be patient. I had my boys in Perth and they were so nice there.

However, I am reminding myslef to feel happy that I am able to have healthy babies. A close friend was due 2 weeks after me, and has just had a m/c. She has tried for 2 years to get pg and now this has happened to her. She doesn't have any children yet. So really I am truly blessed to have such gorgeous healthy children.

Skyla, your pH sounds perfect. And I promise that as soon as I know what I am having, you will know too! Will be in touch soon.
