Have any of you tried this? I did it when I was 10 weeks and my results said girl (very clearly) and we are having a girl. I've heard/read that it has a 97% accuracy rate. I would love to find out if you have done it or plan to do it; what you get and if it ended up or ends up being correct for you.

I have heard of it and wanted to do it. On the internet there is mixed information on what denotes a girl Vs. a boy. Can you explain the test and the results boy vs. girl? I really want to try this. :-)

Sure no problem! I am including the directions, the test works best at around 10 weeks. And it's best to use first morning urine...but I did it with afternoon urine the first time and then first morning urine the next 2 times. Directions 1.Go to the store and buy a red cabbage. The size of the cabbage does not matter at all. 2.Cut the cabbage into big chunks. The smaller you cut the chunks, the better your results will turn out. 3. Put cabbage in a pot and put enough water to barely cover the cabbage. 4. Let the water and cabbage boil for about 10 minutes or so. When the ten minutes is up, remove it from the heat. 5. Grab a cup and go to the bathroom! Pee into the cup. 6. In a separate cup, mix 1 part of your urine to 1 part of the water that the cabbage was boiled in. No need to save the cabbage unless you want to eat it. 7. If the urine/cabbage water turns pink or red(like the color of cranberry juice) then this indicates a boy result! If the urine/cabbage water turns purple or blue (stays the same), this indicates a girl result. When I did mine it stayed bluish purple and I tested it 3 times just to see if it would change; it never did and it was right!

I tried this but I was already about 15 weeks, it turned dark purplish-blue but was that to late in the pregnancy??? I also did the baking soda test at about 12-13 weeks and it didn't foam.

I don't think it was probably too late...they just say 10 weeks is the best time to do it. It's probably correct but I would think if you were having a boy that the acidity would be high by 15 weeks, showing boy results. I also did the baking soda test about the same time you did and I got the same results. And like I said, mine is a girl. (confirmed 6 times already...lol I'm paranoid.) So, I'm guessing from the cabbage test, the baking soda test, and your ultrasound pic...that it's a girl. :) And I know how much you are hoping for one. How far along are you now?

I tried it at about 9 weeks and it was like a dark purple, wine colour.. Not really blue or red so not sure what that means?? With the baking soda one what is supposed to happen ?

@Ruby Red....with the baking soda, if it fizzes it's a boy if it does nothing, then it's a girl. :) Just put about 2 TBS of baking soda in a little dish and add urine and watch what happens. As to the red cabbage test, if it was more purple I would say girl. But you can always repeat and see what happens. They say light pink, pink, or cranberry means boy. Anything purple, blue or in that color spectrum means girl.

Thanks honey... Think I may try again now I am nearer 15 weeks... I googled earlier... That's a whole 10 minutes of my life looking at other peoples wee that I'll never get back haha! Will try the baking soda one in the morning... Presume it's better at that point. Interesting to see both theories were right for you!

I can't tell you how many other peoples urine I stared at when looking up the red cabbage test. LOL! I spent a week researching it and look to see how reliable it was BEFORE I tried it. I didn't want to get my hopes up. All I can say is the red cabbage test, baking soda test, and Ramzi theory (placenta placement) was correct for me. Apparently they all have a 97% accuracy rating...that's really good when you think about it. I would love to hear what your results turn out to be.
