I have only ever known one Francis in my life (francis or frances) it was my next door neighbor and a guy! I think it goes well with Linus and you will always find people that love and hate your choice so decide for what you like and forget everyone else!!

What if you spelt it differently. One of my favourite footy(soccer) players is Francesc Fabregas and every just calls him Cesc. Which I think is a super cute name. You'll never make everyone happy. My son's name is Lucas and my Dad HATES it. He says it's wimpy and I chose it cause I thought it was strong name. lol. Go with your heart you know best!

Personally Francis is not to my taste - it's not just the girly factor, I just don't like the way it sounds. Not crazy about the Fr- and soo many 's' sounds. I don't like Frank either. How do you feel about the name Jonas? I really like it.

Love Linus and Issac though!!

Thank you all so much! I love these boards. I think I have come to the conclusion that I need to choose a name I am comfortable with. i love the name Francis, now there is still 3.5 mos before this baby is born...so anything can happened. But, I have a name that I think fits well with our family....I always choose a few names just in case when baby is born the name I have chosen doesn't quite sound right. But, I went with my heart with Linus...and everyone loves the name. It fits him to a tee. I was thinking Connor for my older son Isaac, and he is not a Connor at all....he's an Isaac. It will work itself out. But, so far it's Francis. Now I just have to find a middle name :)

I think Francis is a fine name! And definitely a boy's name. I think it goes very well with Linus!

But, I did name my sons Augustus and Theodore, haha! And I was thinking of Percival for this next little boy....

Whe I hear the name Francis I totally think of the older boy in Malcolm in the Middle

I like the name for any boy, I don't like Oliver because kids will call him liver

Francis is my dad's middle name too!!! lol I have to admit - I always thought it was funny because over here, Francis is a girls name!!

I personally don't like it, but if you do...go for it!!

I agree that there is nothing stopping him being called Frank when he's older - no one will know its not his real name unless he tells them and that can be his decision to choose to use his real name or not...but while he's a baby...he's YOUR baby so you choose the name YOU like for him!!

Francis is definitely a boy name. Frances is a girls name. Francis was my Dad's middle name and a good friend dated a guy named Francis a few years ago (just to prove the name could belong to a 30-something and not just a 50-something! ) He always went by Francis to us - no nicknames.

One of my students is named Francis and he is called "Frankie." He's a great kid too -- totally funny and well adjusted!

I like it. But, I prefer softer sounding names for boys as well. I knew one Francis, and he went by Frank most of the time. I think it's the best of both worlds ~ Francis for when he's younger...and if he wants something more masculine Frank totally works. I think if you love it, you should use it. At least he won't be one of those kids who has to use their last initial just because his name is so popular.

honestly, I don't care for the name and think he may get made fun of once he is in school....I like Oliver like a previous poster mentioned, he could be called Ollie for short, cute!

I don't care for Francis at all. I've only known one and his nickname was Frannie, which makes for a very wimpy/weak sounding boy name. Sorry!

What about Morgan or Henry or Oliver or Milo?

Francis is good for a little boy. Don't see anything wrong with it, although it's not very common. I really like your youngest DS's name...Linus. Reminds me of the 'Peanuts' clan, whom I adore . If you get a girl, are you going to name her Lucy? Lol..j/k.
