Could a flat nub at 13+2 still be a boy?

I had my NT scan yesterday and baby is nice and healthy which is the main thing. Whist looking at the scan I glimpsed the nub a couple of times and it appeared to be very flat and in line with the spine. I also had DH watching the scan and he said the same thing. I asked the tech where my placenta was and she said it was posterior and on the right side of my uterus (which I thought according to Ramzi theory was meant to be boy). I had a transvaginal scan at 6+3 and placenta was on my right. I’m now really sad that this probably a girl due to the flat nub (feels so angry with myself for feeling this way). Has anybody seen a flat nub at their scan and still go onto have a baby boy? This is our last child and I so wanted it to be a boy. I only have one scan picture which doesn’t show the nub L If anyone could share their experiences with me I would really appreciate it. Feeling so low right now.

For one thing, nubs are not 100% even when they are easy to see with the perfect shot; however, a very flat nub at 13.2 would def. lean heavily toward girl, but there are possibilities, such as the cord laying on top of the nub pressing it down.   I really couldn't say for sure without seeing a picture or video, BUT if I were you and I thought I saw a very flat nub, I would prepare myself mentally for another girl until I was told otherwise. 

 

 

As PP said, nubs are not 100%. I have seen very girlie nubs turn out to be boys by 20 weeks and very boyish nubs be girls by 20 weeks. I will be honest and say though, that most flat nubs by 13 weeks on here that I have seen do turn out to be girls. Having 2 of a kind is a very special thing. I had horrible gd when I found out my second was another boy, but now I love to see how close my boys are. I know it's so hard to wrap your head around this right now, but I promise that you will love having two kiddos. Hugs!

Me! But mine (for DS3) were done at 11w5d and 12w5d.

But I will echo what the others have said about 2, 3, 4 etc of the same kind- it's awesome!!! Don't get me wrong, I really want a baby girl and will be very sad if I never get to experience one, but it's soooo much fun having 3 of the same- you can dress them the same, they all look like slightly different versions of each other, they have a special bond, etc. If this baby is your 2nd girl, believe me when I say- you'll love it!

Hi island meadow thanks for your reply. Yes I have posted the scan on the u/s forum but there have been no guesses on gender due to there not being a nub in the picture. Please take a look for me and see what you think. I posted it under the heading '13W+2D NT scan' thank you.

Thanks ladies for your replies, I really appreciate it. My gender scan is in 2 weeks. I'm preparing myself to hear girl, but I must admit there is a small part of me that hasn't given up hope of it being a boy. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

hi dear, nothing is set until a tech or doctor confirms gender. Even if you and DH are good at nub guessing, maybe it was different watching it on a screen and you missed out something. In 2 more weeks you will find out. Right after nuchal scan (2 weeks ago) i could only think of the scan and what the tech told me; then after a few days i forgot about gender. I find out for sure(r) in 2 days, at 15w4d. I guess i will start thinking about it in the waiting room. Anyway, your chances are still 50/50 and i hope you hear boy. If not, sisters are a blessing to watch and raise :o)

nothing is set in stone until d-day. nubs are often wrong and i have seen quite a few that i swear are girls grow a nice sized penis by 20 weeks. i didn't get a nub shot with this one but i have seen a few with nice flat forked nubs turn out to be boys by 20 weeks or even later. my first would never uncross her legs. but i went in once around 32 weeks and the tech told me she was a boy. i promise she's 11 now and im convinced shes a girl.

I didn't get a pic of my nub but it looked very flat during my scan at 13+3 and he is all boy. You're not out yet !! Good luck :)

I had a very flat nub at 12+5. 'Everybody' said girl- he is all boy!
