I'm a first timer too but my mother had my last sibling when I was 18 and I remember clearly those days living with the baby.. Firstly I couldn't sleep through those cries if I had wanted to.. You'll seem to be on a constant state of dozing instead of hard sleep. When I would watch him at night (my mother worked nights in the ER) and he stayed in my room I would wake up for every sneeze, or coo or movement. Its like a natural reaction.
As far as the breastfeeding I think thats also a natural thing, we're wired to do. I know some women have problems with it but I think persistance is the key.. If you want a good book try The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. Fantastic book and it'll cover everything u need to know, even milk storage and positions, how to clean nipples and all ur worries.
Women have been doing this for thousands of years, this is what we're made to do. We all have fears but I think in the end once that baby is here instinct just kicks in and you'll know everything about your baby you need to know. What ever cry means, or little facial expressions etc etc
