Microsort FDA - Exporting embies

Hi Dr Potter,

I just recently found out from another IG lady that if we have MS done on our embies, we cant ship them out of the US. (Which was a huge surprise & left us up in the air whether to use Mircosort or not)

Once the FDA approves Mircosort will international patients be able to then ship the frozen embies home with them?

hi trucksndolls,i am in australia too, and you seem to know a bit about ms, sorry if my queries sounds silly, but is it possible to not leave oz and have ms done, can we actually have samples shipped to the us and then have the ivf part done here using our ms embies, or do you at some point (inatially) need to go to the us to start the ball rolling. I have been through ivf/pdg in sydney so i am familiar with the ivf part, but do you always have to go through ivf, or can you try for a natural fertilization with ms ?

Hi Consumed by Pink, I know a couple of basics but no expert.. I will share what I know & if Im arong hopefully someone will correct me. As far as I know, there is no way in which you can stay in oz & have ms done. You cant freeze the sample & ship for sorting. You can do IUI/MS but I hear that the success rate is very low. So- to have ms in the mix you need to go to the US. If your having ER there, you may as well have ET too.

If youve had ivf/pgd in Aust, were you able to select gender? (If you dont mind me asking?)

Thanks for the info trucksndolls, i thought as much in regard to having to go the usa for ms, We had ivf/pgd in sydney before it became ilegal, we actually went through it twice, and did get 3 healthy girl embies, none of them took and ended in early ms, so it was really devistating as we knew we couldnt go back and have it again as it became ilegal the year we finished . Anyway since then we had another ds, no swaying, as we didnt know about it then,and im still longing for a daughter ( i really think anyone on this site will always want a ds or dd to complete their lives ) So we look to any means we can to try for that dream! My Ds i think prob wont agree with pgd or ms, as it really does cost alot, so ms would prob be the cheaper option and less invaisive way to go if he agrees, that is.  I think he is more agreable to having more kids the natural way and actually would be thrilled with another ds, its me that feels outnumbered and surrounded by testosterone all day long . Do you know if we can have ms anywhere in oz?
